Tip Calculator
Calculate a percentage or fixed tip, choose whether tax is included in the tip base, and split the final bill evenly.
How to calculate a tip
- Percentage tip = selected tip base × tip percentage ÷ 100.
- Total bill = subtotal + tax + tip.
- Each person pays = total bill ÷ number of people.
- When a fixed tip is entered, the effective percentage is calculated against the pre-tax subtotal.
Example
A $100 pre-tax bill with $8 tax and a 20% pre-tax tip produces a $20 tip and a $128 total. Split among four people, each person pays $32, including $5 of tip.

Limits and local customs
Tipping practices and tax treatment vary by country, service and establishment. This calculator does not prescribe a tip rate, account for mandatory service charges, or divide items unevenly. Confirm the receipt before paying and avoid adding a voluntary tip twice when a gratuity is already included.
