Paver Calculator: Patio Pavers and Material Cost

Calculate your quantities

Enter your measurements below. Change the example allowance, product information and price to match your project.

Enter measurements and select Calculate.

Prices use your chosen currency. A zero price leaves cost at zero. Material estimates exclude labor, tax, delivery and accessories. Enter decimal feet, not feet-and-inches notation. Decimal point or comma accepted; omit thousands separators.

How to use this paver calculator

Estimates rectangular pavers by face area and excludes joints. Use the manufacturer's coverage where a modular mixed-size pattern is sold by area. Base layers, bedding sand, edge restraints and compaction are separate.

  1. Measure the relevant area or volume using the units shown beside each input.
  2. Replace example product values with the supplier's yield, coverage, density or pack quantity where applicable.
  3. Set the extra allowance explicitly. Enter zero when you want the geometric quantity without an allowance.
  4. Select Calculate, then compare the unrounded purchasing basis with whole bags, boxes or packs where displayed.

Formula

Patio area = length × width. Paver area in ft² = paver length × paver width / 144. Pavers = patio area × (1 + extra / 100) / paver area, rounded up. Packs = pavers / pavers per pack, rounded up.

Worked example

A 10 × 10 ft patio with 8 × 4 in pavers requires 450 pavers before allowance. At 10% extra: 495 pavers. Packs of 100 require 5 packs.

Six calculated examples

Only the first length changes in this table. All other inputs use the calculator's reset values shown above. These are mathematical scenarios, not measured supplier quotes.

Frequently asked questions

Does this calculate the gravel base?

No. Use the gravel calculator with the specified base depth and supplier density.

Can I use circular or mixed-size pavers?

This version uses one rectangular size. Use actual pack coverage for other products.

Does it allow for cuts?

Only through the extra percentage you enter; it does not optimize a laying pattern.

Units and calculation limits

One foot is 0.3048 meters; one cubic yard is 27 cubic feet. Calculations retain precision until display; whole-package quantities are rounded up. Outputs estimate quantities from your measurements and assumptions. Confirm product coverage and units before ordering.
