Self-Leveling Concrete Calculator: Bags, Coverage and Cost

Self-Leveling Concrete Calculator

Estimate self-leveler volume, whole bags, purchased coverage, water and cost from floor area and average depth.

Second zone

Use this for a room or low area with a different average fill depth. Enter zero area to ignore it.

How to estimate self-leveling concrete

Measure the area that will actually receive material and estimate its average cured thickness. For an approximately linear slope, enter shallow and deep points; the calculator uses their arithmetic mean. Add a second zone when a low area has a different average depth.

Formulas

Zone volume = area × average depth. Planned volume = total volume × (1 + allowance ÷ 100). Bag yield volume = label coverage × label reference depth. Bags = planned volume ÷ bag yield, rounded up. Purchased capacity and leftover are based on whole bags.

Checked example

A 300 ft² floor at 1/4 in average depth has 6.25 ft³ of geometric volume. With 10% extra, plan 6.875 ft³. If one bag covers 50 ft² at 1/8 in, its inferred yield is 0.520833 ft³, so purchase 14 bags. Those bags provide about 7.2917 ft³, leaving roughly 0.4167 ft³ above the planned volume.

Important limits

  • Coverage and water vary by product, substrate, temperature and permitted thickness. The current manufacturer label and technical data sheet take precedence over every example.
  • The shallow/deep method assumes the depth changes approximately linearly. Map irregular floors into measured zones rather than using one extreme low point as the average.
  • Do not subtract surface high spots unless they will receive no material. Do not use wet volume, bag weight or density as a substitute for the stated cured coverage.
  • This calculator estimates quantity only. It does not choose a compatible primer, substrate preparation, lath, reinforcement, minimum or maximum lift, cure time, moisture system or structural repair.
  • Confirm whether multiple lifts are permitted when any point exceeds the product maximum. Delivery, tax, tools, labor and unused partial bags are separate.
