Concrete Weight Calculator
Calculate the weight of a concrete slab, solid cylinder, hollow cylinder or known volume. Use an editable density so the estimate matches your mix, cured product or project record.
Important: Density varies with aggregate, moisture, air content and mix. Replace the example density with a value from the supplier, drawing or measured sample. This tool estimates self-weight and material handling only; it does not calculate load-bearing capacity, lifting design, vehicle legality or structural adequacy.
How concrete weight is calculated
Weight equals volume multiplied by density. For a slab, volume = length × width × thickness. For a solid cylinder, volume = π × diameter² ÷ 4 × length. For a hollow cylinder, subtract the inner-cylinder volume from the outer-cylinder volume. The quantity and optional allowance are applied after one piece is calculated.
Worked example
A 10 × 10 ft slab that is 4 in thick has 33.333 ft³, or 1.235 yd³, of concrete. At the editable example density of 144.84 lb/ft³, the estimated weight is about 4,828 lb, 2,190 kg, 2.414 short tons or 2.190 metric tonnes.
What density should I enter?
The presets are examples for quick comparison, not product specifications. Concrete density changes with the mix and condition. Use the density stated by the producer or designer when available. Do not confuse the weight of cured concrete with the shipping weight of dry bagged mix, added water, reinforcing steel, formwork or broken debris with air gaps.
Planning limits
- Vehicle trips are rounded up from the payload you enter; axle limits, trailer ratings and road laws must be checked separately.
- The allowance changes the planned volume and weight but not the geometric volume.
- Openings, reinforcement and embedded items are not deducted automatically.
- This calculator estimates mass, not structural capacity, lifting points, crane selection or demolition safety.
