Pool Loan Calculator: Payment, Interest and Term

Pool Loan Calculator

Estimate a swimming-pool project loan from the installed price, cash contribution, financed add-ons, APR, term and origination fee. Compare the payment, total interest, cash needed and the effect of an extra monthly payment.

Contract price before the cash contribution.
Optional landscaping, equipment or other eligible costs.

Pool loan formula

Base amount = project price − cash contribution + financed add-ons
Monthly payment = P × r ÷ [1 − (1 + r)−n]
P is the financed principal after any financed fee, r is APR ÷ 12, and n is the number of monthly payments. At 0% APR, payment equals P ÷ n.

Checked example

For a $75,000 pool project, $15,000 cash contribution, $2,500 of financed add-ons, 9.25% APR, a 15-year term and a 2% fee added to the loan, the base amount is $62,500 and the fee is $1,250. The financed principal is $63,750. The scheduled payment is about $656.11 per month; without extra payments, estimated interest is about $54,349.82. With the example $100 monthly extra payment, payoff is approximately 137 months and estimated interest falls to about $39,599.72. Small differences can result from lender rounding.

What the results include

  • The amount financed after subtracting cash and adding eligible project costs.
  • Origination fee, closing cash and the share of the project price financed.
  • Scheduled monthly payment, total interest and total loan payments.
  • Estimated payoff time and interest saved when an extra payment is entered.
  • A same-rate term comparison for 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 years.

Important limits

Planning estimate only. A lender may use daily interest, different fee bases, minimum loan amounts, rate tiers, automatic-payment discounts or other underwriting rules.
  • The model assumes a fixed rate, monthly compounding and on-time monthly payments.
  • It does not include property-tax changes, insurance, maintenance, utilities, permits, appraisal costs, liens or home-equity closing costs unless you include eligible items in financed add-ons.
  • “APR” is treated as the calculation rate. The lender’s legally disclosed APR can differ when fees and timing are included.
  • An extra payment is assumed to reduce principal without a prepayment penalty. Confirm how the lender applies extra funds.
  • A lower payment from a longer term can increase total interest substantially.

Frequently asked questions

How much will a pool loan cost each month?

Enter the installed project price, cash contribution, financed add-ons, APR and term. The calculator first finds the financed principal, then applies the standard fixed-payment formula.

Should I finance the origination fee?

Financing the fee reduces cash due at closing but increases principal and interest. Paying it upfront raises closing cash but keeps it out of the amortized balance.

Why compare several terms?

A longer term generally lowers the required payment but can materially increase total interest. The comparison table holds the rate and financed principal constant so the term effect is visible.

Does a pool always increase home value?

No. Value depends on location, property, design, condition and buyer preferences. This calculator does not assume any resale-value increase.

Can I model extra principal payments?

Yes. Enter a monthly extra amount. The result estimates the earlier payoff and interest reduction, assuming the lender applies the extra directly to principal.
