Manufactured-home transport budget tool
Mobile Home Moving Cost Calculator
Build an itemized mobile or manufactured-home moving budget from transport sections, distance, preparation, permits, escorts, setup, utilities and site work. All prices are editable so the estimate can reflect actual contractor quotes and local requirements.
Mobile-home moving cost formulas
billable distance = max(0, route distance − included distance)
transport = sections × base price + sections × billable distance × distance rate + sections × escort cost
subtotal = transport + departure costs + arrival/site costs
total = subtotal + subtotal × contingency rate + taxable basis × tax rate
The optional quote comparison subtracts the entered contractor quote from the itemized total. A positive result means the itemized budget is higher; a negative result means it is lower.
Checked example
A two-section home moves 80 miles. The base price includes 20 miles and costs $3,500 per section; the additional rate is $8 per section-mile and escort cost is $750 per section. Departure, permits, setup, site, utilities, finish and equipment total $18,500.
The transport subtotal is $9,460, the pre-contingency project subtotal is $27,960, and a 10% contingency is $2,796. With no added tax, the checked total is $30,756, or $15,378 per section.
What to include in a manufactured-home move quote
- Exact section count, dimensions, weight and condition of the home.
- Permitted route, loaded distance, bridge or clearance constraints and escort requirements.
- Teardown, utility disconnection, running gear, tires, hitch and weatherproofing.
- Foundation or pads, blocking, leveling, tie-downs, reconnection, skirting and finish work.
- Site access, tree or fence removal, crane time, storage, lodging and schedule constraints.
Limits and responsible use
- Transport rules, permits, escorts, allowable dimensions, taxes and utility requirements vary by jurisdiction and route.
- The tool does not assess structural condition, frame capacity, roof height, hazardous materials, title status, zoning, park rules or whether relocation is economically practical.
- Distance charges may use loaded miles, total fleet miles, minimums, zones or separate return charges. Match the model inputs to the written quote.
- Obtain site inspections and itemized written bids from properly licensed and insured professionals before committing funds.
