Sod calculator formulas
Net area = measured area + additional area − deductions.
Order area = net area × (1 + allowance % ÷ 100).
Pieces or rolls = order area ÷ coverage per piece, rounded up.
Pallets represented = pieces ÷ pieces per pallet, rounded up. Purchased coverage equals whole pieces multiplied by the entered coverage. Cost uses either whole pieces or purchased coverage according to the selected price basis.
Scope: pallet counts are a packaging and delivery estimate; the calculator does not force a full-pallet purchase. Supplier roll, slab and pallet sizes vary. This tool does not evaluate turf species, grading, soil preparation, irrigation, seams, delivery fees, labor, tax or site access.

How to estimate sod
- Measure the lawn as one rectangle or enter a separately measured area. Add other non-overlapping sections and subtract beds, patios or structures.
- Enter an allowance based on the layout and cutting pattern. Zero returns the measured requirement without an added allowance.
- Copy the supplier’s actual coverage per piece or roll and pieces per pallet; these values are not standardized.
- Select the price basis used by the quote. Keep every price in the same currency.
- Compare the whole-piece result with supplier minimum orders, pallet policies and delivery limits before buying.
